海南软件职业技术学院是2003年3月经海南省人民政府批准设立，教育部备案的培养信息、软件行业的高素质技能型专门人才的公办全日制高等职业院校，其前身为创办于1923年的海南琼海师范学校。学院坐落在红色娘子军的故乡、博鳌亚洲论坛永久会址所在地、中国优秀旅游城市、全国精神文明建设示范城市、海南省东部中心城市——海南省琼海市市中心。
      学院占地326亩，建筑面积近15万平方米，固定资产总值约1.6亿元，建有“计算机应用与软件技术”、“电工电子与自动化” “艺术设计（动漫方向）”三个中央财政支持建设的高规格职业教育实训基地；建有具有高度仿真功能、设备先进的各类实验、实训室50间，其中计算机应用技术实验中心被评为“海南省高等学校实验教学示范中心”，软件技术实验室被评为“海南省高校优秀实验室”；建有运行良好、关系稳定的校外实践基地105个；建有千兆校园网、通讯网、监控广播电视网三网合一的信息化虚拟平台；建有“大学生创业中心”、“软件研发中心”和“艺术设计研发中心”；设有“国家职业技能鉴定所”、“红旗Linux重点实验室”；是国家动漫产业振兴基地授权的“国家动漫游戏人才培养工程授权合作伙伴” 、“海南省高等学校图书馆网络化建设合格单位”、海南东部唯一的高等教育自学考试考点。
     学院设有软件工程系、网络工程系、信息管理系、数码设计系、电子工程系、艺术传媒系、外语与旅游系、基础教育部、社会科学部等9个系部，现有专业30个，形成了以电子信息大类为主体，艺术设计传媒、财经、旅游、文化教育等门类为辅协调发展的专业布局。现有省级特色专业3个，省级精品课程4门，省级教学团队3个。
     学院现有来自全国24个省（区）市的全日制在校生6000多人，现有教职工381人，专任教师268人，其中正教授13人、副教授56人，讲师100人，具有博士学位4人、在读博士4人，具有硕士学位53人，具有双师素质的教师139人。同时，还聘有60名具有丰富实践经验或企业工作背景的校外兼职教师。专任教师中有全国教育系统先进工作者1人，省劳动模范1人，海南省委省政府直接联系重点专家1人，海南省“515人才工程”第一层次专家1人，海南省有突出贡献的优秀专家2人，省级优秀共产党员和党务工作者9人，省优秀教师及优秀教育工作者5人，省高校教学名师3人，省优秀高校思想政治理论课教师2人，省高等学校优秀中青年骨干教师1人。
     近三年来，学院教师荣获第二届全国青年教师师德演讲比赛一等奖、省科技进步奖一等奖和二等奖、省教学成果二等奖、省科研成果二等奖、省教学比赛一等奖、海南省自然科学优秀学术论文一等奖等省级以上奖励100多项；主持国家自然科学基金项目1项、国家子课题3项、教育部人文社会科学研究专项任务项目1项、全国高职高专英语类专业教学改革课题1项、海南省自然科学基金项目12项、海南省教育科学规划课题5项、海南省高等学校科研项目39项；编著专著和教材30多部；29篇学术论文被《SCI》、《EI》、《ISTP》等国际权威刊物检索收录。
    学院办学规范，治学严谨，坚持特色立校、质量强校，秉承“人才为根本、教学为中心、技能为主线、质量为生命、特色为追求”的办学理念，坚持“以服务为宗旨、以就业为导向、走产学结合发展道路”的办学方向，实施 “实践主导，能力本位，校企合作”人才培养模式。学院推行“双证书”制度，推进实践训练与职业技能鉴定的接轨。我院在校生参加的职业技能鉴定和职业资格考试，包括国家劳动和社会保障部职业技能认证、国家信息产业部IT职业技能认证等机构12个，工种（含不同等级）类别53种。近三年毕业生双证书获取率近100%。国家计算机技术与软件行业资格（水平）考试学生中级认证通过人数，连续2年名列全省高校第一；高校英语应用能力A、B级考试通过率比省平均通过率高近10个百分点。我院学生参加国家级、省部级各类比赛,获省以上殊荣200多项。其中，2010年海南省首届全省职业院校技能大赛，6个项目获一等奖,4个项目获二等奖，“计算机网络组建与安全维护”项目获天津赛区全国职业院校技能大赛三等奖，是海南高职院校获得的唯一的1项全国职业院校技能大赛奖项；2011年全省职业院校技能大赛，6个项目获一等奖，10个项目获二等奖，8个项目获三等奖；获全国“高教社杯”数学建模竞赛一等奖3项、二等奖5项，海南赛区一等奖9项等省级以上奖项38项，成绩居全省高校之首；“瑞萨杯”全国大学生电子设计大赛二等奖2项和“蓝盾杯”海南省赛区一等奖2项，二等奖1项；全国大学生计算机作品赛全国总决赛铜奖和海南赛区一等奖、最佳创意奖；第九届中国大学生广告艺术节学院奖银奖1项；全国三维数字化创新设计大赛全国总决赛二等奖1项；舞蹈《穿越》、《马帮》、《中国妈妈》均获全国大学生艺术展演一等奖，民族管弦乐团获“第三届全国青少年北京邀请赛”最高奖“阳光奖”；是2010年海南省“中国移动杯”大学生创业大赛唯一进入决赛的高职院校，并获“移动手机应用商城最佳设计奖”； 是2011年海南省创业大赛唯一进入冠亚军决赛的高职高专院校，并获得高校组二等奖、单项奖最佳创意奖。近三年毕业生就业率均在92%以上，社会用人单位对毕业生的综合素质满意率和工作称职率均在90%以上，学院连续四年被评为“海南省普通高等学校毕业生就业工作优秀单位”。 
     学院具有招收外国留学生资质，并先后与广州四海通网络通讯系统有限公司、日本海南领信株式会社、中国移动通信集团海南有限公司、中国电信股份有限公司琼海分公司、海南生态软件园、英国伯恩茅斯学院和普尔学院、美国西新墨西哥州立大学、澳大利亚新南威尔士州TAFE-西南悉尼学院、中山大学、广东外语外贸大学、大连东软信息学院继续教育学院等国内外企业及高校在教学资源、专业建设、技术开发、资格认证、实习实训、学生专升本、就业安排、人员培训等方面进行全方位交流与合作。
     学院高质量的人才培养和良好声誉得到社会各界的充分认同与高度评价。学院被授予“全国文明单位”、“全国学校艺术教育先进单位”、“全国电化教育工作先进单位”、“海南省现代教育技术实验学校”、“海南省信息化管理示范单位”、“海南省家长满意学校”、“海南省十佳教育信用单位”、“海南省普通高等学校毕业生就业工作优秀单位”、“海南省学校安全工作先进单位”、“海南省文明单位”、“海南省教育系统‘五五’普法先进单位”、“海南省依法治校示范校”等荣誉称号。2007年底，学院作为海南省首家接受教育部人才培养工作水平评估的公办高职高专院校，以优异成绩通过了评估，特别是“突出实践教学，着力提高学生就业竞争力”的特色获得了专家组的一致认同与高度评价。

Introduction to Hainan College of Software Technology
     Hainan College of Software Technology is a full-time public college, which is dedicated to providing its students with high-quality skills in information technology and software engineering. The college was commissioned by the Hainan Provincial Government and registered with the Ministry of Education in 2003. Its predecessor was Hainan Qionghai Normal School, founded in 1923. The college is located in the center of Qionghai City, which is the hometown of the Red Detachment of Women and the seat of Boao Forum for Asia. As the central city in the east of Hainan Province, Qionghai is not only one of the excellent tourist cities in China, but also one of the National Model Cities for Spiritual Civilization Construction.
     The college covers an area of 21.7 hectares and has a GFA of nearly 150,000 ㎡. The total value of fixed assets is about 160 million RMB. The college has three high standard vocational education training centers supported by the Central Financial Fund, i.e., “Computer Application and Software Technology”, “Electric Engineering& Electronic and Automation” and “Art Design (animation)”. It provides 50 laboratorial and training rooms with advanced equipment(including simulation laboratories), among which “Computer Application Technology Laboratory Center ”  was rated as “Model Laboratory Center in colleges and universities of Hainan”, “Software Technology Laboratory” was awarded as “Excellent Laboratory in colleges and universities of Hainan ”. It also has established a solid partnership with 105 off-campus practice bases. Moreover, the college has built a virtual information platform integrating gigabit campus network, communications network and monitor broadcast television network. It has set up a “Students Office & Venture Office”, a “Software Research& Development Centre”, an “Art Design Research& Development Centre”, a “National Vocational Skills Certification Office” and a “Red Flag Linux key laboratory”. It is an “Authorized Partner of National Center for Developing Animation, Cartoon & Game Industry (NACG)”, a “qualified unit in Library Network Construction of Higher School”, and the only test center of Higher Education Self-Study Examination in the east of Hainan.
     The college consists of 9 departments, namely Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Information Management, Digital Design, Electronic Engineering，Arts & Media, Foreign Languages & Tourism, Basic Education, and Social Sciences. There are 30 specialties offered, three of which are provincial-level characteristic specialties. Taking electronic information as the backbone and pursuing a harmonious development of arts design, media, finance, travel, language and culture, the college has developed a practical system of specialties. Besides, it has four provincial-level excellent courses and three provincial-level teaching teams.
     At present, there are above 6,000 full-time students from 24 provinces (municipalities/ autonomous regions) in the college. The college has 381 faculty and staff members, among whom 268 are professional teachers, including 69 professors and associate professors, 100 lecturers, 4 doctors, 4 doctor students, 53 masters and 139 “double-quality teachers” (theory and practice integrated teachers). It also employs 60 experienced part-time teachers. One of professional teachers is an “National-level Advanced Educator”, one is a “Provincial-level Model Labor”, one is an important expert contacting the provincial party committee and provincial government directly, one is the first level expert of “515 Talent Project”, two are experts with outstanding contribution to Hainan, nine are “Outstanding Party Members of Hainan Province”, five are “Provincial Excellent Teachers” and “Provincial Excellent Educators”, three are “famous teachers in Hainan”, two are “Provincial Outstanding Teachers of Ideological and Political Theory” and one is “Provincial Excellent Young and Middle-aged Backbone teachers of Higher Schools”.
     In recent three years, its teachers have got above 100 provincial and national prizes, such as the first prize in the Second National Youth Teachers’ Morality Speech Contest, the first and second prize for Hainan Science and Technology Advancement, the second prize for Provincial Teaching Achievement, the second prize for Science Research, the first prize for Provincial Teaching Competition and the first prize for Provincial Natural Science Excellent Academic Thesis. The college has undertaken various kinds of research projects, including 1 project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, 3 National sub-topics, 1 of Humanities and Social Science Research Special Projects hosted by Ministry of Education, 1 project in English teaching reform of national vocational and technical colleges, 12 projects supported by Hainan Natural Science Foundation, 5 Hainan Planned Project on Education and Science and 39 research projects of Hainan colleges and universities. Meanwhile, it has written or edited more than 30 monographs or textbooks. 29 of them were included in "SCI", "EI", "ISIP" and other international authoritative journals.
     Run based on regulations, the college puts quality in the top and pays much attention to its own characteristic. It upholds the principle of “talents as the key, teaching as the core, skills as the focus, quality as the life, and uniqueness as the goal”, adhering to the aim of “taking service as an objective, being employment-oriented, and insisting on produce-study development”. It carries out “Practice leading, Ability based and College-Enterprise Cooperation” training mode combining knowledge, ability and quality. It implements the “double certificates” system to promote the integration of practical training and vocational skills appraisal.
     The students participated in 53 different kinds of vocational skills certification and professional qualification examinations(different grades) organized separately by 12 vocational skills certifications bodies such as the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the State Ministry of Information Industry. In recent three years, all the students who had attended the “double certificates” training passed the exams. In 2009 and 2010 the sum of the students who passed National Computer technology and Software Industry Qualification (level) Examination ranked the first in all the colleges and universities of Hainan province, and the pass rate of the Practical English Test for Colleges (PRETCO) is nearly 10 percentage points higher than the provincial average pass rate.
     What’s more, the students get rewarded in national level or provincial level competitions about 200 times. In 2010, they won 6 first prizes and 4 second prizes in first “Hainan Skills Competition of the Colleges”, and their project “Computer Network Building and Security Maintenance” won the third prize in National Skills Competition of the Colleges, the only prize of Hainan colleges in national competition so far. In 2011, they won 6 first prizes, 10 second prizes and 8 third prizes in “Hainan Skills Competition of the Colleges” again. They also won 3 first prizes and 5 second prizes in Higher Education Press Cup, “National Mathematical Modeling Contest”, and won 9 first prizes in Hainan Division, 38 prizes in all, ranking the first in all the colleges and universities of Hainan. The students won 2 second prizes in Rissa Cup, National College Students Electronic Design Contest and 2 first prizes, 1 second prizes in Lanton Cup, Hainan division. In National College Students IT Project Competition, they won the first prize and Most Creative in Hainan division, and the third prize in national final. In “Ninth National College Students Advertising Art Festival”, they won a second prize. In national final of National 3D Digitizing Innovation Design Contest, they won a second prize. The students’ dances "Passing Through", "Caravans" and "Chinese Mama" won three first prizes in National Art Competition for College Students, and the college’s National Music Orchestra won the top prize, Sunshine Award, in “the Third National Beijing Invitational Tournament of Youth Folk Music Orchestra". In addition, the college was the only higher vocational school that entered the final of “Hainan China Mobile Cup, College Students Business Plan Competition” and won “Best Design Award for Mobile Phone Application Mall” in 2010. In 2011, it was also the only higher vocational school that entered the final for championship of “Hainan College Students Business Plan Competition”, and won the second prize of higher schools group and “Most Creative” for the individual. With the continuous improvement of students’ quality, the graduates’ average annual employment rate reaches over 92% and employers’ satisfaction rate to comprehensive quality and work competence of graduates reaches over 90%. The college is honored as “Hainan Excellent Unit in Graduates’ Employment” for four years in the row.
     In order to facilitate cooperation, the college has received authorization to recruit foreign students. It also exchanges and cooperates all round with well-known enterprises and universities at home and abroad in teaching resources, professional construction, technology development, qualification, practical training and internships, upgrade to undergraduate course, employment and training, such as Guangzhou Universal Network Communication Systems Co., Ltd., Hainan Link Trust Co., Ltd.,(Japan), Hainan Branch of China Mobile Communications Corp., Qionghai Branch of China Telecom Corporation Ltd., Hainan Resort Software Community, Bournemouth and Poole College, Western New Mexico State University, TAFE NSW South Western Sydney Institute, Zhongshan University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, School of Continuing Education of Dalian Neusoft Institute of Information and so on.
     The college has been well received by all circles in the society for its high-quality talent training and good reputation. It has been awarded as “Hainan Civilization Unit", “The Advanced Enterprise in National Arts Education”, “The Advanced Enterprise on Audio-visual Education”, “Hainan Modern Education Technology Experimental School”, “Hainan Demonstration Enterprise on Information Management”, “Hainan College with Parents’ Satisfaction” ,” “Hainan Top Ten Reliable Educational Enterprises”, “the Advanced Enterprise on graduates’ employment services in Hainan colleges and universities”, “Hainan Excellent Enterprise in School Safety Work” , “Advanced Unit for the fifth five-year law disseminating” in Hainan’s education departments, “Hainan Model College in Running School According to Law ” and so on. At the end of 2007, as one of Hainan’s first public vocational colleges to be evaluated by the Ministry of Education regarding “talent cultivating work,” HNCST passed the evaluation with honors. In this evaluation, the concepts of “laying emphasis on teaching by practice” and “improving the students’ competitive ability to start a career” were highly appreciated.
     Facing new challenges and opportunities, the college will adhere to the scientific development, strengthen the connotation construction, enhance the overall strength comprehensively and strive to make the college become one of the national models of higher vocational colleges.
